Bhut Jolokia Red (10 seeds)
Bhut Jolokia Red (10 seeds)
Bhut Jolokia Red …. 125 times hotter than a Jalapeno!
Until 2011 it was the hottest pepper in the world!
With Scoville units between 800,000 ~ 1,001,300 you can call this pepper 'nuclear'!.
One drop of extract from this pepper needs a million drops of water to no longer be considered sharp!
It originates from North-Eastern India, particularly Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. Bhut Jolokia (or Naga Jolokia) is twice as hot as the previous champion, Red Savina, and was written in the Guinness Book of Records as the hottest pepper in the world.
Plants can grow up to 45-120 cm. Pods are 5 to 8.5 cm long and 2.5 to 3 cm wide. Bhut Jolokia loves heat and humidity, but with a little extra care and love it will grow well in a cooler climate. Germination time is similar to Habanero peppers, so it will last longer than others. Don't despair if you don't see anything after 3 weeks! Bhut Jolokia has a long growing season. From this species it is known that some flowers of the plant can fall.
For a good start, note:
- Many of the pepper seeds being tropical varieties need increased heat, humidity as well as darkness to germinate.
- The average germination temperature is 25 to 30℃.
- If the temperature is lower, they will not germinate and may be damaged.
- The seeds should be planted at a depth of no more than 0.5cm, in a light substrate and regularly sprayed with water to maintain moisture.
